Fragment Sizing
Previous Top Next

Each previously detected peak stands for a DNA fragment of a certain length. Two fragments can vary from each other in a minimum of a single nucleotide.

The temporal appearance of peaks (mobility) differs between samples and electrophoresis runs. Therefore a size standard is used to calibrate the samples.

After assignment of the base sizes to the size standard channel (lane), the peaks in the other channels (lanes) can be sized.
